The Importance of a Technical Meeting and Rehearsal
Both a technical meeting and a rehearsal for a wedding serve the same big goal:
making sure the ceremony runs smoothly, but they focus on slightly different things.
Technical Meeting
This is usually done with the wedding suppliers and the core team (planner, lights,
sound, venue staff, photographers, videographers, etc.).
Purpose:
- Finalize logistics – confirm ceremony layout, microphone positions, lighting
- cues, music timing.
- Check equipment – sound systems, projectors, lights, etc.
- Coordinate timing – when the bridal march starts, when the officiant speaks, when the confetti goes off.
- Avoid surprises – ensures everyone knows their role on the actual day.
Think of it as the backstage planning session.
Wedding Rehearsal
This is usually done with the wedding party (bride, groom, officiant, bridesmaids,
groomsmen, parents, flower girl, ring bearer).
Purpose:
- Practice the processional & recessional – who walks when, at what pace, where to stand.
- Run through the ceremony – vows, ring exchange, readings, special rituals.
- Smooth nerves – gives everyone confidence and familiarity.
- Time estimates – makes sure the ceremony flows naturally.
